Soar and Score
UX/UI, Visual Design
Company: Transunion
Duration: 2 days (2016)
Role: UX Designer
TransUnion is a credit reporting agency that strives to use information for good. For its second annual hackathon, I collaborated with my teammates to create the game known as Soar and Score.
Opportunity
According to a survey conducted by TransUnion, 32% of millennials were interested in buying a home, but 43% had an “F” credit score. We were prompted to create a fun and addicting game to educate millennials on the importance of building credit and how purchases affect their credit score to tackle this issue.
Solution
Besides creating an educational game, we also had the constraints of integrating their credit score simulator and sponsored ads for more credit opportunities.
We created a game heavily inspired by Flappy Bird, translating the simple game mechanics into a metaphor representing the financial journey that millenials experience when building up their credit.
The game was created in Swift, so it was important to design the game based on iOS design patterns. In addition, we also applied the TransUnion style guidelines and assets in order to maintain brand consistency. I worked with the other designer to create wire flows and high-fidelity mockups to aid in the development of the game.
